Flying Display have landed on Hunan TV, bringing cyberpunk imaginations to life in China's low-altitude reality

Share

Have you ever imagined a future city skyline dotted with shimmering, floating screens? Like a scene from a science fiction movie—light and shadow flowing, information suspended in mid-air, interwoven with real-world space and time. Now, this sci-fi vision has been brought to life by Chinese innovation. FILMBASE's independently developed "Flying Diaplay" is at the heart of this technological breakthrough. Recently, Hunan Satellite TV's "News Truth Seekers" program visited FILMBASE, showcasing to a national audience the innovative strength of Chinese companies in the field of low-altitude display technology.

From cyberpunk fantasy to tangible reality

A truly "flying" display

In the program, the reporter, situated in a technologically advanced setting, introduced the device: "Behind me is the 'Flying Display,' independently developed by a Chinese company. It can levitate in mid-air, provide real-time broadcasting, and support interactive features, truly bringing science fiction visuals into reality."

This is not just a screen, but an aerial display system integrating materials science, bionic engineering, and drone coordination technology. How does it achieve stable flight? How does it withstand natural weather conditions? Behind it lies years of intensive research and development by FILMBASE.

Biomimetic butterfly wings, transparent as glass

The technological secrets of the Flying Diaplay

The development team behind the Flying Display drew inspiration from the nanostructures of butterfly wings to create a biomimetic transparent film. Using carbon fiber materials for the structure, they successfully overcame technical challenges, resulting in a screen weighing only 250 grams per square meter, with a thickness of just 2 millimeters, yet boasting a transparency of over 95%. This extremely high transparency makes images appear to float in mid-air, creating a highly futuristic visual effect.

The ultra-light and ultra-thin design is the foundation of the Flying Display's ability to "fly." It utilizes a unique mesh-like hollow design, which not only significantly reduces weight but also enhances safety, preventing injury even in the event of an accidental fall.

Compared to traditional LED screens, which weigh over 20 kilograms per square meter, the Flying Display's extreme lightweight design allows it to seamlessly integrate with drone systems, enabling precise aerial hovering, dynamic turning, and content playback. Currently, the largest single screen can reach 75 square meters, truly achieving "large yet light, thin yet stable" aerial display.

Resistant to wind, rain, and extreme weather

The protective journey of 25 types of coatings

The development of the Flying Display was a battle against the natural environment. It had to withstand strong winds, heavy rain, scorching sun, extreme cold, and even drastic temperature changes.

To this end, the research and development team tested over 200 different materials, ultimately applying 25 layers of special functional coatings to the screen surface to achieve multiple protections including waterproofing, UV resistance, wind and vibration resistance, and high and low-temperature resistance. Simultaneously, the drone's flight control system had to perform real-time positioning and calibration to ensure the screen remained stable in the air, without shifting or shaking, and maintaining consistent color, brightness, and uniformity.

In March 2025, FILMBASE successfully broke the Guinness World Records for the "World's Largest LED Mesh Flying Display" with a screen measuring 72.66 square meters and boasting 150,000 to 300,000 pixels, leaving a Chinese mark on the history of low-altitude display technology.

In the same year, this screen was featured on the performance stage of the closing ceremony of the 15th National Games, showcasing the stunning charm of the integration of technology and art at a national-level event.

In 2026, FILMBASE plans to launch a new generation of products with a single screen area of 300 square meters, once again pushing the boundaries of imagination in aerial display technology.

Beyond Performance: The Social Mission and Future Scenarios of Flying Display Technology

The value of the Flying Display extends beyond stage performances and celebrations. FILMBASE is actively exploring its applications in public safety and emergency services. In scenarios such as emergency rescue, traffic management, and public information dissemination, the Flying Display can quickly ascend, becoming an "information beacon" in the sky, fulfilling the social responsibility of a technology company.

FILMBASE's growth trajectory is a microcosm of how Shenzhen, this city of innovation, leverages its R&D foundation and supply chain collaboration to steadily advance in the global high-tech arena. The company consistently focuses on cutting-edge ultra-high-definition display and low-altitude economy technologies, driving the continuous iteration of its "Flying Display" series and allowing more people to witness the technological prowess from China and from Shenzhen.
