A small “Flying Display” represents a giant leap in smart manufacturing! FILMBASE Makes Its Debut at the National Two Sessions Media Lounge

At the Shenzhen Press Group’s National Two Sessions Converged Media Lounge in Beijing’s New Overseas Chinese Hotel, within the “Guangdong Goods Travel the World, Shenzhen Products Earn Global Acclaim” exhibition area, a transparent screen the size of a poster holds the magic to conquer the night sky.

It comes from Shenzhen Filmbase Technology Co., Ltd., which recently broke the Guinness World Records with a massive 72.66-square-meter screen. Today, the “Flying Display” technology—which once guided swarms of drones into the night sky over Longgang and made rockets and astronauts “appear” in the clouds—has been condensed into a compact, exquisite prototype, serving as yet another shining example of “Shenzhen Smart Manufacturing” showcased to the nation and the world.

Bringing the “Guinness World Record” to the Two Sessions Venue

At the scene, reporters observed that this small sample was completely transparent. When a staff member gently flipped the switch, the previously transparent surface instantly lit up, and high-definition moving images sprang to life. The rich colors and exquisite picture quality, combined with the surrounding lighting, drew many guests to stop and take a closer look.

“Is this the cutting-edge technology that lets giant screens ‘take to the skies’?” asked a delegate from Guangdong with curiosity. A staff member smiled and explained that it was precisely due to its “transparency” and “lightness”—weighing only about 250 grams per square meter, equivalent to a lightweight jacket; with a transparency of up to 95%, the screen appears to vanish into the night sky, while 150,000 to 300,000 pixels ensure a level of detail far surpassing traditional light shows. It is precisely these “extreme” specifications that enabled  to successfully break the Guinness World Record in late March this year, becoming the world’s largest LED mesh “Flying Display.”

From “Riding the Wind” to “Worldwide Acclaim”

Under the spotlight in the “Guangdong Goods, Shenzhen Products” section of the reception hall, this sample represents not only a technological breakthrough but also embodies the boundless creative imagination of Shenzhen enterprises. From the 1,800-square-meter “Illusion Wheel Screen” on the Eye of East Lake Ferris wheel in Wuhan, to the giant aerial screens cheering on the 15th National Games and the National Paralympic and Special Olympics, and on to the “Night Sky Magician” that has repeatedly delighted residents along the lakeside at Longgang Universiade Park—

FILMBASE’s growth trajectory serves as a vivid testament to how “Shenzhen Products” have spread from Shenzhen across the nation and set sail for the global market. A company representative told reporters that in addition to recognition in the domestic market, their products have been exported to 104 countries and regions, with “Shenzhen Screens” visible in locations such as the Doha Commercial Complex in Qatar and Incheon International Airport in South Korea. In the first quarter of this year, their export value surged nearly fivefold compared to the same period last year.

A City of Innovation Nurtures “Hidden Champions”

A small sample reflects a city’s innovation ecosystem. Longgang District, home to FILMBASE, is a top performer among China’s top 100 industrial districts, boasting a complete industrial chain for ultra-high-definition video—from capture and production to transmission and display.

“Every breakthrough our company makes is made possible by the support of the district.” ” This sentiment expressed by FILMBASE CEO LanlanYuan  was vividly demonstrated in the exhibition area of the Converged Media Lounge. From initially driving down the price of liquid crystal films to bring “electronically controlled dimming” into millions of homes, to now leveraging the “low-altitude economy” trend to make display screens soar as freely as kites, every step of FILMBASE’s innovation has kept pace with the rhythm of Shenzhen’s industrial upgrading.

“In the past, drone formations created patterns; now, drones carry high-definition screens to ‘show movies’—this is a qualitative leap,” remarked a committee member from the tech sector after experiencing the technology. “Shenzhen enterprises always manage to turn seemingly outlandish ideas into tangible ‘Shenzhen-made’ products.”

At this very moment, in the Converged Media Lounge in Beijing, this small “Flying Display” prototype sits quietly on display. Yet in the eyes of onlookers, it seems to have already soared into the sky, transforming into the brightest star in Shenzhen’s night sky—telling the world how this “City of Innovation” uses cutting-edge technology to continually push the boundaries of imagination higher and farther into the heavens.
