On the evening of 18th February, the second day of the Lunar New Year, a vision of “opera of the future” blossomed upon the stage of the 2026 China Media Group Spring Festival Opera Gala. The creative showcase ‘New Voices of the Young Phoenix’ gathered outstanding contestants from the ‘First CCTV Children's Opera Competition’ alongside young opera talents from across the nation. With their youthful voices, they celebrated this national treasure, paying homage to tradition through childlike wonder. Behind the children, FILMBASE's ‘Flying Display’ discreetly supported this cultural reimagining with its transparent presence, quietly elevating the visual narrative.

This marks FILMBASE's Flying Display's return to the national cultural stage following its Guinness World Record-breaking debut at the 15th National Games and HarmonyOS Gala. Serving as the core stage display system for ‘New Voices of the Young Phoenix’, the Flying Display redefines opera stage visuals through transparent display and spatial imaging technology – suspending imagery, breathing life into light and shadow, and transforming technology into a stage language synchronised with performance. The production further integrated multiple technological innovations, with robotic interactions and robotic dogs taking to the stage. Together with the Flying Display, they constructed an immersive futuristic opera space, transforming technology into a warm hand supporting tradition.

The protagonists of ‘New Voices of the Young Phoenix’ are children learning, understanding, and growing to love opera. With a transparency rate of up to 95% and an ultra-light weight of just 250 grams per square metre, the FILMBASE Flying Display creates a safe, open, and imaginative performance space for these young performers. Blending virtual and real, AI-generated images of adorable opera children synchronised with rhythmic light and shadow, pulsing in unison with live vocals, transformed technology from mere ornamentation into an ‘invisible character’ participating in the narrative and conveying emotion.

When ‘Odes to Opera's Splendour’ unfolds across the screen, its characters seem to float above the performance, pulsing in unison with the vocals. As ‘Cymbals clang, strings sing’ dances with the light, it echoes the rhythms of gongs and bamboo flutes, forging a stage language where sound and vision merge, spirit and energy flow seamlessly. When "Young phoenixes sing anew, carrying forward glory; Youth Strives, Our Generation Bears Responsibility" freeze-framed on the flying screen, the stage conveys not merely artistic beauty but a spiritual relay. The role undertaken by the Flying Display is not that of a mere display device, but a vessel for expressing values. Through technological prowess, it builds a bridge for youth to traditional heritage while opening a window for tradition to embrace the future.

When young voices sing the nation's quintessential art form and the Flying Display illuminates the stage, opera transcends mere historical reflection to become a cultural force propelling us towards the future. Under the banner of display technology, FILMBASE continues to elevate Chinese culture to new heights of flight.
